Vice Minister Qu Dongyu met with Mr. Eduardo Frei Ruiz –Tagle, Chile's former President and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary on Special Mission to the Asia-Pacific region, in Beijing on the afternoon of 30 August 2017. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral agricultural cooperation.

 

Vice Minister Qu spoke highly of friendly relations between China and Chile and commended the progress in agricultural trade and science and technology of both sides. He said that the MOA is willing to share China's experience of agricultural development with Chile to improve production of corn, vegetables and Chinese herbs among others in Chile.

 

Vice Minister Qu put forward the following suggestions for further cooperation: firstly, take full advantage of the China-Chile Joint Committee on Agriculture; secondly, deepen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in agricultural science and technology; thirdly, promote bilateral fisheries cooperation; fourthly, strengthen cooperation in agricultural trade and investment.

 

Mr. Frei extended his sincere gratitude for China's support to agricultural development in Chile and expressed his willingness to boost agricultural cooperation with China.
